CONSTANT

By selecting "Constant" enters a sub-area in which you can define the constants channels (also called "Targa Data"), i.e. the logical channels with fixed value:

  • can be of a numeric type or text type
  • are organized in two tables, one relative to the test bench and one to the unit under test (for example an engine)
  • can be saved in the initial part of the data file
  • are used for formulas, comparison values in conditions, alarms’ thresholds and wherever it’s  better to parameterize instead of fixing a value
  • it’s possible to change their value while in "Run" (advanced function) but it is absolutely forbidden to change the name, number or location

In both tables it is possible to add ("Add…") or Edit (double-click on a line) a channel.

Each new channel is created at the bottom of the table and can be positioned by dragging.

"Save…" and "Upload…" allow you to save the entire content of the tables (together) in a specific folder, i.e. retrieve and make it current; it’s possible to have multiple configurations for the same channels, typically when the system needs be able to handle different values depending on the different versions of the component being tested.

If you upload a configuration of constant channels while in "Run" the total identity of the number, names and positions, with respect to that with which you entered (in practice can only change values), is essential.

If the configurations are inconsistent then it is necessary to exit from "Run", then load the configuration and return to "Run".

In this picture you can see the details for each channel constant (here a numeric data type).

In general, for the logical channels of AdaMo specifies that:

    • logical names, case sensitive, must be unique (is always active an automatic control)
    • only logical names enabled are then available in the rest of the program (save, view, formulas, automation, etc.)
    • decimal numbers serve only for viewing and saving while in the program the channel is managed as a 32-bit number (floating-point precision single) or 64-bit (double-precision floating-point) depending on the type and source .

When saving or loading a configuration of constant channels is necessary and sufficient choosing the folder where the tables are saved ("Current Folder") with no need to define any name.

In this folder are created the two files visible in the image and then, to differentiate different configurations, different subfolders are used (typically inside the "Files chs" folder contained in the System Directory).
